Greetings, marhaba & welcome! Since most of my genealogical posts will be related to people who themselves or their ancestors immigrated to the United States, I think it is important for me to acknowledge that the United States was created on the land of its Indigenous People. As an immigration attorney, a genealogist, and a historian, I recognize and respect our presence on the ancestral and unceded territory of these Indigenous People. The land of Indigenous People on which I live and which my ancestors assisted in colonizing must be considered in my genealogical and historical research. All genealogists should remove the colonial lens from our writings and assist in correcting rather than perpetuating historical misinformation. We cannot change the past, but we can make sure to remove the blinders of history.
